Weather:
The
Republic of Korea, located on the eastern edge of the Asian continent, has a
temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Summer is hot and humid due to
the maritime Pacific High, while winter is bitterly cold and is influenced
primarily by the Siberian airmass. The transition seasons, spring and fall, are
sunny and generally dry. August is
the hottest month with the mean temperature ranging from 20℃ to 26℃. January is
the coldest month with the mean temperature ranging from -5℃ to 5.℃. A short
period of rainfall comes in early September when the monsoon front retreats back
from the north. Annually, about 28 typhoons occur in the western Pacific. Only
two or three among them usually approach the Korean peninsula from June to
September. The rainy period over Korea, so called Changma, continues for a
month. Click
